The Design Challenge: How can graphic design assist people in their journeys of self-expression?

The solution for this project was to create a line of customizable packaging for products of the consumer's choice. The customizable line includes five variations of external packaging, along with a range of twelve colors, eight shapes, and five type treatments to choose from. In addition to crafting a poster and physical mockups of each packaging variation with a sample design, a mobile website demo was created to give viewers an idea of how they can complete the customization process from their end. This project demonstrates my ability to work with packaging design, create mockups physically and digitally, and formulate a website/mobile application for consumer usage.

Design Elements

type|cast is about breaking the stereotype and being true to your unique self, so to communicate this message, the audience is provided a range of options to choose from when it comes to creating their own designs.

Shape

Abstract and organic shapes were created to contribute to the idea of expressing ones self freely.

Color

Viewers are given the option to mix and match 12 bold and fun colors of their choice.

Text

Each "logo" uses a different type style and explores the concept of breaking type from its usual setting.

The poster was designed to attract the viewer and pique their curiosity enough to scan the QR code which would direct them to the website demo. Because this project focuses primarily on type, the design of the poster highlights the title of the project with accents of shape and smaller type.
